St. Raphael the Archangel
ST. RAPHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

Raphael whose name means "God has healed" is one of the
seven angels who stands before the throne of God. He is
shown with shining wings, offering a fish to Tobias to cure
his father's blindness. Tied around his waist is a flask
of medicine. He is said to appear on earth disguised as
a bright young man in order to give instructions on healing.

FEAST DAY: OCTOBER 24

Patron of physicians, the blind, pharmacists, those leaving home,
travelers, lovers, nurses, and guardian angels.

ST. JUDE

St. Jude is shown holding a club, which was the weapon of his
martyrdom, and a golden medallion with Christ's image. The
flame of the Holy Spirit burns above his head, indicating
that he was one of the apostles present at the Pentecost.

ST. JOAN OF ARC

Dressed in battle armor, St. Joan carries a banner
decorated with the fleur-de-lis, symbol of France.
Its staff, a crude cross made from broken sticks,
is like a crucifix given to her at her execution.
In her left hand she holds the flames of her martyrdom.

FEAST DAY: MAY 30

Patroness of captives, prisoners, soldiers France, rape
victims, and those who question the authority of the church.

ST. BARBARA

St. Barbara wears a crown of bricks representing the tower
of her imprisonment. She carries a sword-like cross and
her shoulders are adorned with chalices of a happy death.

Invoked against lightning, explosion, and fire.

Our Lady of Guadalupe
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

In Mexico in 1531, "a beautiful lady with garments that shown like the sun"
appeared to Juan Diego. She asked him to build her a temple on that spot.
As proof to a doubting bishop, she gave Juan roses in the winter
and divinely imprinted her portrait on the fabric of Juan's tilma, a crude cactus
fiber garment which still exists today, showing no signs of decay.

in her nun's habit, who is holding a monstrance.
At his feet sits the tamed wolf of Gubbio, his bible opened to Matthew (19:21)
